I have featured Ax and the Hatcehtmen on the site before but I just went and saw these guys at the Rebel Lounge in Phoenix. Probably the best show I have been to period. They have so much fun on stage and you can feel it and the audience gets to be a part of something that felt really special. At one point in the show in the middle of a song they just started having a jam session for about five minutes before seamlessly getting right back into the same song and finishing it out. They had a great encore where they played a song the everyone was clamoring for as opposed to saving their most popular song for the end and tied it all off with twist and shout by the Beatles. I really cant recommend a single song enough from them. Their discography is short and you can play just about any of them and fall in love.

Menthol - Mac DeMarco

I have never showed this song to someone and gotten a bad response. Its probably one of my favorite rock songs all time. Give it a play expeditiously. Listen in the car with the windows down for bonus points.

Rec Hall opened for Ax and the Hatchetmen. Such a treat to find these guys. You can hear the passion in their music and they have a great presence on stage. They have that classic early 2000s indie-alternative rock feel that brings me back to finding two door cinema club in middle school. Not on the EP is also “if you run” my personal favorite of theirs.
